Young Scotland and Northern Ireland Programme

The Young Programme exists to develop the communication skills and broaden the horizons of people in the early stages of their working lives. Through discussion and dialogue, the personal testimonies of inspiring speakers, and the delegates' own presentations on questions of 'current interest or controversy', the programme helps to build confidence, stimulate debate, and increase awareness of the world around us. 

Scotland was the location of our first event back in 2002. The pilot in Glasgow was such a success that the programme quickly spread across the UK and over the sea to Ireland. These days, the Young Scotland Programme takes place twice a year in the Spring and Autumn.

The Young Scotland and Northern Ireland Programme takes place early each year - usually in January. This unique event is held jointly with the Young Ireland Programme, bringing together delegates from all over Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.

The Venue

All Scotland and Northern Ireland Programmes are held at Western House Hotel in Ayr, South Ayrshire. Situated on Scotland's famous Ayr Racecourse, in the heart of Robert Burns country, the four-star establishment celebrates its location and heritage, with all of its rooms named after famous racecourses. 

There's a large car park on the grounds of the hotel, including two electrical car charging points which are free to use for electric and hybrid vehicles. 

There is a regular, reliable rail service to and from Ayr and the station is less than five minutes by taxi or a 12 minute walk from the hotel.
